The podcast

Hopefully premiering as soon as next week I and a guest star will be reviewing random songs that come from either the top of my head or artists that have wormed their way to the tops of our charts.

In-order to avoid the possible legal battles I am going to limit major label music and such to 25 second samples and referrals to where you can get the full song on your own.

A decent portion of the music we will be sampling and reviewing (we being me and some random joe from the channel who volunteers) will eventually be music that is released under the creative commons or similar license since we can legally replay more of that music.

Or hell I may just get bored and start playing the songs on my own guitar.

Either way it should be a huge amount of fun so be looking forward to it my contact info is bellow for information about being on the show

you can call One Eight Four Three Five Six Four Five Two Nine Eight

or meet me on skype (just for reference the other phone number leads there as well)

The anatomy of an electric Guitar

Guitar_by_evilneedscandy
As a continuation of the rock theme, today I am going to look at the anatomy of the electric guitar (and to quickly demolish a few misconceptions).

Just to go ahead and get this out of the way I am going to sort of skip over the starter years because they are not that well documented and I own a guitar based on the fender stratocaster which is going to be the basis for my demonstrations in later articles. Read More...

Is and As of Rock and Roll

Guitar_by_W_Uno(small)
Today in Theater 201 we went over the difference between is and as performance and this hit home for me and my theory of rock and roll.

Why this and not the artist of the week, well I am tired of writing artist profiles and Iron Maiden is holding the top spot (in-fact now it has a better lead than it had before) still so I am at-least hovering around the topic at hand.

It has long been my way of thinking that we have a very narrow method of defining just what something are and as some people have theorized that is just the western way of thinking. We like to compartmentalize and set things apart as a method of defining things.

This big emphasis on differences is often what drives us to say, “This is good music,” and similarly, “That is not music.” Its been hard for me to define this phenomenon other than that beauty is in the eye of the be holder but with what I learned in class today I think I can finally articulate myself properly. Today it does please the God’s of Rock for me to bring you my review of IRON MAIDEN, British power metal band that brought the hardest kind of metal to both Britain and the world.

These minstrels of the damned have been rocking the world since their rise to fame and infamy with their song Number of the Beast (this weeks music video of the week). Read More...

Bob Dylan

For a bit of the old prestige I have the honor of reviewing Bob Dylan this week who has risen to the top of our group charts with a total of 5 people listening.

I personally have no taste for him but his historical significance can’t be passed up. Not to mention I failed to update the site the last two weeks, so before I get to review the band I want to take a look at, Iron Maiden. Lets take a trip back to the groovy seventies the birth of Mr.Dylan’s popularity Read More...
